Brief history of ReSyLAB
The 1st ReSyLAB was held in March 2013 in Zagreb (Croatia), the 2nd in May 2015 in Belgrade (Serbia), the 3rd in October 2017 in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and the 4th in October 2019 in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), all under auspices of International Consortium on Landslides.
ICL ABN
The Adriatic-Balkan Network of International Consortium on Landslides (ICL ABN) was established in January 2012 as one of eight regional and thematic networks of ICL to promote landslide science in the region.
The members of the ICL ABN are dedicated to organize bi- annual regional symposium entitled Regional Symposium on Landslides in the Adriatic-Balkan Region (ReSyLAB), in the aim to strengthen the cooperation of the ICL
ABN members and gather the scientists, researchers, engineers, professionals and decision-makers, from the region and beyond, concerned with landslide hazard and risk, their reduction and impact on society.
Symposium activities
The 5th Regional Symposium on Landslides in the Adriatic–Balkan Region (ReSyLAB) will be held in
Rijeka, Croatia, 23-26 March 2022, at the Faculty of
Civil Engineering. We are hoping that Covid-19 will be overcome and that we will hold the Symposium on site, or, in the worst case, as hibrid event. We introduce you to the main Symposium activities:
- 23/03/2022 – Workshop on landslide physical and numerical modeling
- 24-25/03/2022 – Invited lectures and full paper presentations
- 26/03/2022 – Field trip
Symposium activities will also include poster sections, awarded landslide photo exhibition and roundtable discussion on Landslide science for community resilience. The official language is English.
Workshop and field trip
Workshop on landslide physical and numerical modelling will be held on 23/03/2022 in the afternoon. The number of participants will be limited to 20. You are invited to register until 15/02/2022.
Field trip to landslides located in the Counties of Primorje–Gorski kotar and Istria will be held on 26/03/2022. Registration deadline is 20/02/2022
City of Rijeka
Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and it is administrative centre of the Primorje-Gorski kotar County. It is situated in the Kvarner bay, along the course of the Rječina River and thus it carries the symbol of water in
its name. Dynamic and rich history, beginning from the prehistoric time, is written all over Rijeka and the Rijeka Ring in numerous cultural and historical monuments.
In 2020, during the Croatian EU Presidency, Rijeka became the European Capital of Culture. Rijeka was also on Travel + Leisure annual list of the 50 best places in the World to travel in 2020 and Lonely Planet named Kvarner in top 10 regions in the World to visit in 2020. Despite Covid-19, travels in Croatia are available and common now, and we are inviting you to discover treasures of Rijeka in March 2022.
